Experience the power of deep in-person physical networking at Europe’s most valuable Medical XR Congress
Since 2019, Shift Medical has established itself as Europe’s leading community for Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality in healthcare. 2,900 members are actively engaged in our worldwide community by attending virtual and physical events and continuously advancing Medical Extended Reality by building strong collaborations across academia, industry and government agencies.
In 2023, our flagship congress Shift Medical will again focus on strengthening the open and structured knowledge exchange between healthcare providers, businesses, governments and the general public with an exclusive in-person congress in the beautiful city Heidelberg in Germany.
If you are bored by anonymous online conferences, shake your head watching overpromising marketing claims and biased self-promotional talks, and you miss deep in-person networking opportunities with colleagues who care about a sustainable Medical XR ecosystem, then Shift Medical 2023 is your congress.
Dedicated to evidence-based principles we will continue to shape ethical, regulatory, technological and data safety standards across the world for virtual, augmented and mixed reality in medicine.

Nature, history and deep personal connections to shape virtual medicine
Shift Medical is based in the University City of Heidelberg
Heidelberg was mentioned for the first time in 1196 and is well known for Germany’s oldest university, the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg, founded in 1386. The city is also home for the world famous Heidelberg University Clinic, the German Cancer Research Centre, the National Center for Tumor Diseases, four Max Planck Institutes and the European Molecular Biology Laboratories (funded by 40 nations).
As one of the leading biotechnology hubs in Europe, Heidelberg is an extremely attractive location for businesses and technology providers. Due to the close cooperation with many of the companies, institutions, the university, the university clinic, the city of Heidelberg and the state of Baden Württemberg, we have an ideal biotope for the further development of our European Shift Medical Network.
